Wells fargo decided they wanted to put a hold on my husbands payroll check. For what reason?

they couldn't give us one. Account not in the negatives nor is it over drawn. The best answer we got was " the ATM decides whether or not to place a hold on your check" like the ATM has a mind of its own and can make its own decisions. They also decided to take our money every time we use an ATM without our permission I just found out by looking at my statement.

Needless to say we are not happy with wells Fargo and are deciding to close out our account to take our money and business else where. One more thing, wells Fargo decided that my husband is not eligible for a regular and put random restrictions on our account for no reason known to use as well.

Product or Service Mentioned: Wells Fargo Account.

Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

  • restricted account
  • Check Hold
  • Atm Funds

THE ATMS ABILITY TO FRONT MONEY FROM THE DEPOSITED CHECK IS SYSTEMATIC (THIS IS WITH ALL ATMS NOT JUST WELLS FARGO) AND IT LOOKS AT DIFFERENT THINGS TO DETERMINE IF IT WILL FRONT YOU MONEY. KEEP IN MIND ( A LOT OF PEOPLE FORGET THIS) A CHECK IS SIMPLY A PIECE OF PAPER SAYING THERE IS MONEY AT THIS ADDRESS (ACCOUNT AND ROUTING NUMBER) THAT IS FOR ME.

WHEN A CHECK IS "CASHED" ITS LITERALLY THE BANK LOANING YOU MONEY. WHEN YOU CASH A CHECK A BANK AT THAT TIME DOESNT REALLY KNOW IF THERE IS MONEY AT THAT ADDRESS (ACCOUNT AND ROUTING NUMBER) AFTER CASHING A CHECK IF DURING NIGHTLY PROCESSING THE CHECK COMES BACK THAT THERE WAS NO MONEY AT THE "ADDRESS" A HOLD WILL BE ON YOUR ACCOUNT FOR THE AMOUNT OF THE DEPOSITED CHECK BECAUSE THE BANK LOANED YOU THE MONEY AND THEY HAVENT RECIEVED THE MONEY FROM THE PIECE OF PAPER (CHECK)
